Seminole 2.1 Update: Exciting Progress and Important Member Meeting
Dear Seminole Members,
Summer is just getting underway, and we're excited to see familiar faces returning and new families joining the Seminole community. In fact, we are at full membership capacity this year—a testament to how much our area values this special place.
Some of our newer members may have heard references to "Seminole 2.1" and wondered what exactly it means. We wanted to take a moment to bring everyone up to speed on what has been happening behind the scenes over the past several months and share what is to come.
What Has Happened
The original Seminole 2.0 Committee was formed when the Seminole Board, along with a group of dedicated members, recognized that our beloved neighborhood pool was nearing the end of its lifespan. It was time to begin planning, designing, and fundraising for a new facility that would serve our members and community for the next 30+ years.
Seminole 2.1 is the latest evolution of that effort. While the original Seminole 2.0 design came in at $6.7 million, the updated 2.1 plan brings that cost down to approximately $4 million—without compromising the features our community cares about most. It is a smarter, more efficient design that balances member needs, project costs, and community priorities.
Over the past several years, we have worked tirelessly to generate funds for Seminole 2.1 through capital improvement fees, bank financing, pledges, and donations. While we have not yet secured enough donations and pledges to move forward with the full pool and bathhouse renovation simultaneously, we have assembled more than $3.2 million in available funding, including our anticipated bank loan. This financial position has allowed us to confidently move forward with the next phase for a pool-only construction project at the end of this season.
What Still Needs to Happen
General contractors have until June 22 to submit bids for the project. Once received, we will carefully review those bids to ensure they align with the project's scope and projected costs.
With that information in hand, we will hold a member meeting where an affirmative vote of the membership will be required to proceed.
Member Meeting
Sunday, June 28
7 PM – 7:30 PM
Reservation Tent at the Pool
We strongly encourage all members to attend. Members of both the Seminole 2.1 Committee and the Seminole Board will be present to share details about the bids, discuss the project timeline, and answer questions.
If approved, we will continue working with our architectural firm and selected general contractor with the goal of breaking ground on the new pool on September 8, 2026.
For members who have already submitted pledges, we will begin collecting those commitments later this summer—so start locating those checkbooks and pens!
Fundraising Remains Essential
While this represents a major milestone toward achieving the Seminole 2.1 vision, fundraising is not over. The bathhouse renovation remains a critical and integral part of the overall project, and we will continue actively fundraising to make that phase a reality as soon as possible. Continued donations and pledges will help determine how quickly we can move from the pool phase to the bathhouse phase and may directly impact our ability to complete the overall project without extended staging. If you have not yet made a pledge or donation, or if you are in a position to increase your existing commitment, we encourage you to do so. Every contribution brings us one step closer to completing the full Seminole 2.1 vision.
